    Blepharoplasty

    Introduction

Blepharoplasty is an aesthetic procedure that rejuvenates the area around the eyes, providing a fresher, rested and youthful appearance. It is indicated for both healthy men and women who seek to improve the general appearance of the ocular region.

The procedure consists of removing excess skin and correcting the protrusion of the fat pockets present in the upper and lower eyelids. It can be performed independently or in combination with other treatments such as eyebrow lift, facial fat graft, rhytidectomy (facelift) or other body procedures.

    Procedure
In the upper eyelid, the incision is made following the natural crease, which allows removing or repositioning the excess skin, muscle and fat with minimally visible scars. In the lower eyelid, the incision can be located just below the eyelash line or within the eyelid itself, which makes it possible to eliminate or redistribute the excess fat and, if necessary, remove the excess skin.

    Recovery
Recovery is usually fast and the scars, in most cases, are practically imperceptible. After surgery, ointments and cold compresses are applied to reduce inflammation and discomfort. It is normal to experience swelling and bruising during the first two weeks, which will progressively decrease until the final result is revealed.
